“Ben’s place was perfect and much more than expected. Everything was spotless, beautiful spacious home with everything thought of. We didn’t have to ask for anything. There were games for the kids, table tennis, front porch, back deck, the quiet was fantastic. At night you could hear th e river flowing. Heaven. Really thank you”

Perfect chalet in fantastic location for road cycling

“We enjoyed an excellent group cycling week at this lovely, spacious and well-equipped chalet. We took the self-catering option, allowing us to explore the restaurants in Bourg, but Ben and Maddison were happy to cook two superb dinners for us, taken on the terrace (with lightning storms for good effect!). We made use of the BBQ and table tennis table also. The booking was easy and Ben helped us with additional information on cycling in the area – the chalet really couldn’t be better placed for all the truly amazing (epic!) cols, all within riding distance – the best bit being that the road to and from Bourg seemed mostly downhill both ways! Will definitely be recommending to our cycling friends!”

Ideal location for ‘col’ collectors

“Booked a week to coincide with Le Tour de France visiting Bourg st Maurice. Chalet ideally situated for all the Tour de France climbs in the area. The 8 of us had a really good week bagging all the Cols. Chalet very well equipped and clean, and unlike most French chalets there were ample bathroom facilities. Ben and Maddison, very good hosts. As Ben is also a cyclist, he has a very good knowledge of all the climbs and has several local routes to follow. Although we rented the chalet on a self catering basis, we did however ask Ben and Maddison to cook us two evening meals. They were both 3 courses and as much wine you could drink. The food was excellent and plenty of it, just what a hungry cyclist wanted. We have been going to watch Le Tour for 15 years, and this was the best chalet we have stayed in.”

Cycling in the Alps

“Our group of 8 cyclists arrived at Chalet Mathilde on Bastile day. We had booked self catering but Ben and Maddison were happy to cater for us that evening. We enjoyed it so much, we asked them to do it again on the following Friday. This was one of the best chalets that we have stayed in, in 15 years of coming to France, definitely the best bathrooms and shower facilities. It was well located to ride all the climbs in the area, which we did. We could have spent another week riding the lesser ones too. The Chalet had all the facilities we required including good outside eating areas. Ben and Maddison were excellent hosts. I would highly recommend this Chalet to any group of cyclists or others.”

“Amazing chalet in an gorgeous valley just outside Bourg St Maurice. The hosts, Ben & Maddison, could not be more hospitable with great food, wine and company. Will definitely be back.”

Superb accommodation with warm and friendly hosts

“I have to admit that I thought Alpine Vista seemed to good to be true when I first came across it on Facebook but having spent a week in Ben and Maddison’s chalet I am happy to report you will not be disappointed, in fact far from it. Having done a cycling trip in 2016 where we drove from hotel to hotel each day, climbed the nearby col and then went in search of food each evening we thought the idea of a catered chalet for 2017 would be a much better idea. So, come mid August, five of us drove down for a week cycling the local climbs. We received a warm welcome on arrival and were shown around the chalet before choosing our rooms. The bedrooms are clean and spacious with comfortable beds and superb bathroom. I was lucky enough to have an en suite but the separate bathrooms were to the same high standard and the showers were hot and powerful, The lounge and dining area were open and spacious with the all important mini fridge in the corner containing the cold beer, cola and lemonade… personally, I think the soft drinks were taking up valuable beer space but maybe that’s just me. In addition to the dining table inside, there is another table on the balcony where we ate every evening. Below the living space is the garage where the bikes lived when not being ridden. The addition of some cycle racks would allow the bikes to be stored more effectively and free up space but as it was, scattering five bikes around the garage was not really an issue. When it came to food there was more choice and quantity than you could ever need. Breakfast consisted of a choice of cereal, porridge, continental, cooked or a combination of all of these. Fresh coffee and/or tea was also on tap On return in the afternoon there was a fresh cake which, towards the end of the week, we were struggling to keep up with. There was also a fruit bowl in the lounge but when faced with the option of cake what are you supposed to do? Come the evening, we were presented with a three course meal accompanied by the ‘unlimited’ wine and beer… and it really was unlimited. The quality of the food was outstanding and we never had the same meal more than once. Portions were plentiful such that I had to forego dessert one night. With regards to the cycling, we managed to climb the Petit St Bernard, Col de Roselend, Col de l’Iseran and Les Arcs. Stupidly not getting a rest day in, I burnt out and missed out on La Plagne and Col de la Madeleine but they’re not going anywhere. There will be another day! I imagine Alpine Vista would prove to be just as good a base for walking or skiing as it was for cycling. If you were in any doubt about booking here, don’t be. It really is a superb place with great hosts.”

A Great Family Time

“Chalet Mathilde was perfect in every sense. My kids, my wife and I had a great week as there was something interesting for everyone of us to do. The bedrooms are tidy and spacious enough. The living room, the kitchen and the dining areas can’t be better. The location of the chalet was exceptional as well. You could drive 20 minutes uphill to arrive at one of the most astonishing ski resorts and public park. A 5 minutes drive to the opposite side will take you to a genuine French village where you can shop and enjoy a friendly walk. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. Ben’s wife welcomed us with an amazingly delicious cake which we were grateful for.”

“Just got back from a fantastic 4 days staying at the Alpine Vista with perfect hosts Ben and Maddison. If you want a friendly and welcoming chalet in the beautiful French Alps then look no further. Lots to do and see both in summer and winter. We opted for 3 days of cycling plus a little break of white water rafting. All in all an awesome holiday and can’t wait to get back 10/10”

Andy J, July 2017

“Had such a great time at Alpine Vista, so much to see and do in such a beautiful place. Lovely to meet Ben and Maddison who were very accommodating to a group of boys with bikes. Ben would drive us about if our ride didn’t start locally (which many do) happily fitting 6 bikes in the bus. We spent many happy hours climbing the famous cols of the area but should you need a day off the bike I can recommend the river rafting but be prepared to get wet! Once your day in the saddle or boat is over the modern chalet is a perfect place to relax in the evening and enjoy some quite exceptional food and if you’re lucky superb home made cake!”

Andy B, July 2017

“Had a great stay at Alpine Vista with a group of ten cyclists. The accommodation was perfect……..clean, comfortable, well equipped. We cooked an evening meal for ten on two occasions. The Hospitality and advice we were given was just what we needed and we didn’t even have one of the packages. The cycling was some of the most beautiful I have experienced in the Alpes!”

Perfect & Peaceful Chalet for exploring the Alps

We’ve just arrived home from an amazing 9 days stay at Chalet Mathilde. I’ve stayed before for a ski holiday and this was my first time in the Alps for cycling. It’s just a beautiful in the summer as it is covered in snow. The chalet is spacious and so comfortable. It’s located in beautiful surroundings with decking areas perfect for summer BBQs. Ben and Madison are the perfect hosts and are always happy to help. Ben is a keen cyclist himself and is very knowledgeable of the area. We were a mixed ability group, with some not cycling, but the surroundings offer something for everyone; from hiking, running, sunbathing by beautiful glacial lakes or a pop over to Italy for the afternoon for pasta (some in our group cycled to Italy and some drove). We were self-catering this time and (to be honest) I did miss their delicious meals having stayed before at the catered ski chalet! I definitely hope to stay again for both another ski and cycle season!”

Perfect base for a week of alpine road cycling

“Lovely peaceful chalet in the heart of the Alps. Fantastic place to come home to after a day chasing Cols. Some big name climbs within easy reach of the chalet (Petit St Bernard, Roseland, Madeline, L’Iseran) as well as plenty of challenging roads up to nearby ski resorts. We were lucky enough to ample a couple of the host’s cakes – that’s really tempted us to go for the catered option next time!”

Relaxed Accommodation, brilliant climbs!

“Stayed for a 9 day cycling holiday. The pick up (and drop off) from Geneva Airport from the host (Ben) took the stress out of the holiday and saved us from renting a car. There’s plenty of cols and cormets in the surrounding area to keep your climbing legs engaged – and the gentle pootle down to the little lake by Aime was very pleasant too. Fantastic hosts, fantastic location, secure garage for your bike (with tools – Ben’s a keen cyclists too) and brilliant weather. I will be back!”

Stephanie, July 2016

“We had an excellent stay at Alpine Vista, the accommodation is spacious, modern, spotless, and luxuriously appointed. The garden area was great for the kids and nearby hiking/biking options were perfect for the adults. A beautiful part of the world. Ben was a warm, helpful and unintrusive host. I highly recommend this accommodation.”

“We had a great stay at Chalet Mathilde. The house met all expectations. The host is very nice and helpful. The chalet is a good starting point for some beautiful climbs and the best place to relax afterwards.”

Jonathan, August 2015

“Just returned home from a weeks mountain biking in The Alps having stayed here for the 2nd year in a row. I genuinely can’t fault this chalet, it’s location is perfect for Tignes (25 mins away by car) and Les Arcs (10 minutes by car), both offering out of this world trails for bikers of all levels. We were welcomed by Ben who is on hand all week for any local knowledge that you may need and made to feel very welcome indeed. The accommodation is beautiful and finished to an incredibly high standard. Three is a secure locked garage for bikes/skis that would comfortably hold 10 bikes and a good area in front for any maintenance work that needs doing (we needed emergency repairs most nights – the Alps trails are very unforgiving for bikes!). There is ample room for 10 people to stay comfortably, the kitchen has all you would need to cook for that many people and the lounge is a really good size. If you want a nice quiet retreat that is ideally located then look no further, I would struggle to find anything even remotely negative about our holiday here! If you are a biker/walker it is worth noting that Tignes offer free lift passes all summer so take advantage! It’s an incredible place and we’ve booked again already for next year!”

Josh, June 2015

“A group of five of us stayed for a week in June for a road cycling holiday. The chalet is in a perfect location to tackle some incredible climbs…. Cormet de Roselend, Col de L’Iseran, Col du Petit St Bernard (to Italy and back!)….Tour de France classics straight from the front door – no need for a support van to take your bikes to the foot of the climbs. Already planning next year’s trip.”

Nikki, September 2013

“My family and I stayed in Chalet Mathilde in late August. The Chalet is in a great location for summer activities and we enjoyed plently of hikes and rafting too. So amaxing how high you can drive to. Bourg is a lovely French town, with some great restaurants and shops to wander round. Ben has good local knowledge too and hepled us with our plans which we were very grateful for as came a little unprepared.

With the great weather we took full advantage of the BBQ and balcony area. There is plently of modern, clean kitchenware and crockery for all 10 of us without having to worry about washing straight. Overall the chalet is kept to a very high standard and is very well equipped and I would recommend to friends and family. We had a fantastic holiday and we are all looking forward to visiting again soon.”

Alison, August 2013

We had a great time here. Perfect for two families. The chalet is comfortable, stylish and well equipped, and the children loved the table tennis. The location is excellent for walking – you can drive up to some high car parks so you are right up amongst the peaks. The views were amazing and the alpine flowers stunning. We saw lots of marmottes, and also ibex and chamois.

“Our family of eight people stayed in this beautifully renovated chalet in the summer, and had a great time. During the summer, we had to cater for ourselves, and the kitchen was fully equipped for all our needs. There are two supermarkets in Bourg St. Maurice, within a short distance drive. The owners, Jackie and Andy, were very helpful, and even located for us an open pharmacy on a Sunday afternoon, when they heard that one of us was not feeling well. The Chalet is conveniently located on road D902. It saved us time traveling to various hiking destinations in the area. We’ve been mostly to the Vanoise national park, but also made a day trip to Courmayeur, Italy, and took the cable car to the Mont Blanc, and had fun playing in the snow in the middle of the summer. The chalet was very spacious and nicely decorated, and the many bedrooms and bathrooms made it very comfortable for a big family. We enjoyed the balconies, as well as the table-tennis. There was a separate hall for watching video, a library and games. We’d like to come back again, and definitely recommend it to our friends.”
